Lady Vikings sweep Banner County

The Guernsey Sunrise Lady Vikings volleyball team swept Banner County (Nebraska) on Tuesday before dropping back-to-back matches with Lingle-Fort Laramie and Niobrara County Thursday and Saturday to fall to 6-12 overall. The Vikings remain 1-1 in 1A Southeast conference play with one week of the regular season remaining.

Lady Vikings sweep Banner County

GUERNSEY – The Guernsey Sunrise Lady Vikings volleyball team swept Banner County (Nebraska) on Tuesday before dropping back-to-back matches with Lingle-Fort Laramie and Niobrara County Thursday and Saturday to fall to 6-12 overall. The Vikings remain 1-1 in 1A Southeast conference play with one week of the regular season remaining.

Against Banner County, the Vikings won all three sets in running-away fashion, 25-17, 25-12 and 25-14, with senior Rylie Thompson lead the offensive attack. 

Thompson tallied six kills to go along with three ace serves, while sophomore Kierstyn Collar added four kills, a team-high 10 ace serves and nine defensive digs. Junior Hayden Bingham had four kills and junior Leni Dimas added four kills for the Vikings. Liberty Whitebird chipped in four ace serves and a team-high 10 digs, while LaShea Dimas added a team-high six assists and Layla Noggle contributed five digs and three assists. 

On Thursday, Lingle-Fort Laramie captured the sweep against Guernsey-Sunrise, 25-12, 25-10, 25-10. 

Thompson had three kills, 16 digs and six blocks, while Collar had 18 digs and two kills. Juliana Schiele tallied five blocks and seven digs and Noggle finished with seven digs. Jordan Atwood ended with six digs.

The Lady Vikings capped the weekend with a straight-set loss to Niobrara County, 25-16, 25-14, 25-9. 

Schiele led Guernsey with six kills and two blocks, while Thompson and Collar each added four kills. Collar also had 15 digs and Thompson added a pair of blocks. Whitebird ended with 16 digs, Noggle had six assists and Bingham contributed three kills.

The Vikings conclude regular season play when they travel to Midwest and Rock River Friday and Saturday, respectively.
