HANNA – The Guernsey-Sunrise traveled to Hanna Elk Mountain (HEM) Oct. 2 for a 1A Southeast Conference game. The Vikings lost 25-7, 25-13 and 25-7.
They had faced HEM already this season getting swept by the Miners and although they played hard, they encountered the same result.
“Although we didn’t win, we played as a team while keeping morale up,” Guernsey-Sunrise varsity coach Mindy Kelley said.
The team as a whole could only muster 10 kills, led by senior Kayla Scott with three. Alexis Elmore and Macoyia Stoneking both each captured one ace and Elmore had a 100% serve average. Elmore led the team in blocks with two and master dig specialist Chloee Heer led the team with 10 digs. Stoneking led the team with four assists.
Guernsey will be traveling to Newcastle Friday where they will play a total of three matches with Upton hosting. The first game starts at 10 a.m. and there will be a rolling start after the initial game is completed.
