GUERNSEY - The Guernsey Vikings girls’ basketball team took on both Crawford and Aurora-Clearmont last week. The Crawford contest was a rescheduled game due to severe weather cancellations the week prior.
GUERNSEY - Making up for cancellations during the cold spell, the Guernsey Vikings hosted the Crawford Rams last Tuesday. According to head coach Steve Zimmerman, there was a six-minute stretch where the boys did not score in the end of the first quarter and into the second quarter.
GUERNSEY – Lady Viking girls’ basketball is off to a slow start after games were cancelled last week due to weather. “You never like to have games postponed, but I felt like it was a good time as we were battling illness all through the roster,” Coach Curtis Cook said. However, he added there was a tighter turn-around between games that “can be a challenge for teams like ours with low numbers.”
GUERNSEY - Friday night the Vikings hosted the Number 1 rated team from 2A the Lingle Doggers. The game was a difficult match up for the Vikings, who fell 62-26.
GUERNSEY – High School basketball games scheduled for Saturday, January 13 in Hulett were cancelled due to bad weather.
STILLWATER, Okla. – A slow first quarter and a rough final three minutes to the second and third quarters proved costly for the Wyoming Cowgirls Sunday on the road at Oklahoma State. Wyoming was outscored by 12 in the first quarter and spent the rest of the contest trying to fight its way back out of the hole as OSU won 78-62.
LARAMIE – For the third consecutive season the Wyoming Cowboys will be playing in a bowl game, which is the first time that has happened in Wyoming school history.
PLATTE COUNTY – While 4-H shooting sports are not on target during the fair, Platte County 4-H Shooting Sports is hitting the target all year. The shooting sports program in Platte County continues to be one of the most popular and boasts some of the highest enrollment amongst the 4-H projects.
For the third year in a row, runners and walkers showed up for a little fun and exercise at a 5K run sponsored by Banner Health in Wheatland.
CASPER – The Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings volleyball team went 0-2 at the 1A Wyoming State Volleyball Championships in Casper over the weekend to finish the season 7-16 overall.
The Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings volleyball squad went 2-2 at the 1A East Regional Volleyball Tournament in Hulett over the weekend and earned a trip to the state tournament this weekend.
The Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings volleyball team defeated Midwest and fell to Rock River over the weekend to conclude the regular season with a 7-13 overall record.
The Guernsey Sunrise Lady Vikings volleyball team swept Banner County (Nebraska) on Tuesday before dropping back-to-back matches with Lingle-Fort Laramie and Niobrara County Thursday and Saturday to fall to 6-12 overall. The Vikings remain 1-1 in 1A Southeast conference play with one week of the regular season remaining.
