WHEATLAND - Thespian Troupe 605 hosted a doozy of a speakeasy at the First State Bank Community Center June 3.
The group was raised over $800 for the International Thespian Festival Qualifiers, Sabella Douglas, Collin Jones and Caden Wade, as well as for future productions. Desserts, popcorn and mocktails by Wade were available for purchase and cigarette girls circled the room selling candy cigarettes and gum cigars. Douglas and Jones sang songs popular during the 20s era, in addition, Nichole Biggs and Rory Winter showcased flapper dance moves. Troupe members Emiliano Bell, Auri Bertoch, Lillian Fuentes, Monica Tracy and Kit Winter stepped up to help as well as some dedicated parents to make sure the event went off without a hitch.
Justin Herdt of DJ Magik graciously volunteered his time, bingo supplies and his expertise as a seasoned bingo caller for the main event. Prizes were donated from area businesses including the Blue Mountain Car Show, Bomgaars, Cinema West, Cowboy Drug, Crystal Clear Shots Photography, Drube Home, PH Consulting, Los Dominguez, Simply Creative, Trudy’s Treasures and Thrift Store, The Wanderer on Gilchrist, The Wandering Hermit, Wheatland Golf Course and Laramie Peak Motors.
