PUBLIC COMMENT: Shawna Reichert singled out CW Wells, Mayor Delgado, CM Michaels and Clerk Dawson stating they questioned her ability to read a budget. Ron Green announced the VFW will be holding a meet and greet with the candidates on August 3rd and 6th. GOLDEN SHOVEL: The winning yard goes to Ada Pulos! TRAIL RUTS: CM Michaels made a motion to adjust the trail ruts golf and camp rates to allow anyone under the age of 14 to golf for free as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult. Under age 16 cannot operate a golf cart. No discount on camping, and cancellations within 24 hours get a 50% refund. CW Wells seconded. The motion carried. COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION REPORTS: J. Ibarra discussed the lodging tax boards strategic planning and budget meeting, economic developments success over the fourth, Tri-City parks and recs busy summer season and her participation in Platte County A2A meeting. Diana Griffith gave kudos and thanked the Guernsey Volunteer Fire Department for their 8-minute response time to a local fire. LTC Counts announced Rob Cain is back on camp as commander so you can now reach out to either of them. Wildland fire training is taking place for 38 students until September 30th and during that time they can be deployed to fight fires. Camp Guernsey’s PA system has been approved for repairs for all of you that love to hear the bugle call and everything else, but that’s roughly 6-8 months out. DEPARTMENT REPORTS: The visitor center has had 30 states represented so far this year, along with Belgium Canada and Germany. D. Griffith handed out pins they received from the pony express over the 4th. That brought 274 people into the visitor center. D. Griffith gave a shout out to a seasonal employee that has gone above and beyond, Alex Geisler, thank you. J. Burfeind spoke on the 6 fallen trees at the golf course and the brutal wind we’ve been having. Airport hangar doors have been repaired and they are all rented. Sidewalks in town need repaired it is the responsibility of the landowner. The town code enforcement and building inspections operates under the 2021 ICC. This states that any remodel inside or out needs permitted. If you are remodeling interior or exterior you need a permit. M. Fronapfel, public works, parks look good and weeds in the streets are being taken care of. Mosquito sprayer is out Mondays and Thursday’s. Duckweed is a concern and we should look into purchasing the machine for our lagoons. J. Burfeind announced the Library/Senior center project is in the paper and open for BID. MAYOR AND COUNCIL REPORT: CW Wells recommended Council get a refresher course on the elected officials training. Mayor Delgado said WAM came out with a new Mayor Council handbook and we will get you copies. CW Wells received many compliments on the hospitality and activities the town offered during the 4th of July. CM Michaels echoed CW Wells with the parade, pancake breakfast and he tried to get us a fly by, but that didn’t line up. The silt run is taking place so enjoy the river while we have water. CM Fields gave kudos to Mike and his crew, the town looked great. Mayor Delgado said everyone enjoyed themselves over the holiday and everything seemed to go well, so thanks to the town and the council for everything you have done. ANNOUNCEMENTS: CM Fields announced the Maddy Float will be Saturday July 11th. Mayor Delgado announced the next Council meeting for July 21st and Family Fun Day at Gordon Davis Park will be July 18th. ADJOURNMENT: CW Well moved to adjourn. Seconded by CM Harris. The motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:42 pm.
