Jeanette LaRae Hohnholt of Wheatland died on Feb. 16th, 2026, with her three beloved sons by her side. She passed away six days after her 88thbirthday.

Jeannette was born on February 10th, 1938, in Sunrise, the daughter of Vera Marie and Frank Alonzo Bromley. She was also a resident of Guernsey for many years. Jeanette was the sixth child, having three brothers and six sisters. She was raised at the east end of Harmon Heights in the peaceful mountains of Laramie Peak, surrounded by rock pile playgrounds, serene wildlife, calm creeks and fresh mountain air. She lived off the land until she left home in the 8thgrade and began working as a nurse’s aide at the hospital in Wheatland. They provided her room and board while she worked and finished high school. Shewas a caretaker for many people her entire life and never complained while doing so. She met her beloved husband, Joseph Hohnholt, in 1957, and they were married on January 4, 1958. Together they had three sons: Rex Timothy, Albert Todd, and Paul Jeffery.

Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend; she truly was one of a kind. Not only did she make an impact on her family but also many people in the community. She always had a hot pot of coffee and a deck of cards ready for anyone who stopped by - and they did, daily. Her doors were always open and welcoming, and nobody ever left her home hungry. She is remembered most for her huge heart, kind soul, beautiful gardens and her delicious meals. She worked for many years as the lunch lady at Guernsey-Sunrise school. The kids there, even as adults, still remember that she made the best lunchesalongside her sister Etta. In the days leading up to her passing, her room was full of family, friends, music, love, and laughter. The hospital staff stated that they had never seen a room so full for days on end, which truly sums up the loving life of Jeanette Hohnholt. As the great Randy Travis once said, “It’s not what you take when you leave the world behind you, it’s what you leave behind you when you go.”

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her mother Vera, father Frank, two brothers (Sonny and Frank Jr.) and her two sisters (Denalda and Marietta). She is survived by her 3 sons, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, her brother Joe, sisters LaJoy, Tiny, Billie and Faye. A celebration of life will be held at the First State Bank conference room, 1405 16th Street in Wheatland, on June 27th, 2026. From 2 to 5 p.m.
