ROCK RIVER – The Vikes got a huge win 49-36, Friday, over Rock River to secure their position in the play-in game for the east regional tournament.
“We saw good growth over the weekend and are excited for the end of February,” coach Steve Zimmerman said. “Friday saw freshman Adam Bandelos score a season high 14, along with four steals and two assists. Mason Collar led scorers with 18 and 13 rebounds. Nathan VanNatter contributed 10 rebounds. Nathan has been stepping into the leadership role the last couple of games.”
Saturday, the Vikings lost to Southeast – one of the premier teams in the conference – by a score of 51-21.
“We were playing very good ball, leading the Cyclones in the first half when an injury to senior Nathan VanNatter had to leave the game,” Zimmerman said. “The boys played hard and with emotion. I was pleased with our effort and growth. Areas we will be working on are defensive rebounding and offensive consistency. Tim Radcliffe improved his offensive performance with eight points and seven rebounds. In both games Conner Bristow and Korbin Weinkauf have stabilized our bench with solid minutes.”
