SCOTTSBLUFF, NEBRASKA and LUSK – The GSHS track and field team traveled to the Best of the West in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on Tuesday. Joey Lewis earned a chance to compete in the discus and placed 11th in the elite meet.
On Saturday, all the Vikings’ squad competed at Lusk in the Dennis Zowada Invitational and had several top five performances.
The 4 x 400m relay team earned third, Taylor Sterner placed fourth in the high jump, and Joey Lewis placed fifth in both the shot put and the discus. The Vikings coaching staff were happy with the weekend.
Coach Trilby Douglas stated, “This season the athletes have fought cold weather, sickness, and injury. This last week showed the amount of perseverance that they have. Every athlete got a taste of success this last Saturday.”
Results for each athlete:
Lorelai White at Lusk earned 26th in the 100m at 17.07, 21st in the discus at 58’9”, and 26th in the shot put at 15’7”.
