Viking boys fall to Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Hanna-E.M.

GUERNSEY—The junior high boys basketball team from Guernsey-Sunrise opened their season with a pair of games at Lusk on January 14th.
The Vikings’ A team outscored the Tigers A squad 18-7 in final quarter to claim a 34-26 win, putting two players in double figures. Brian McCoid had 13 points, nine of them in the fourth quarter, to lead the Vikes and Bryce Stenson finished with 10. Tristan Hohnholt had four points, Kolten Weinkauf hit three, and Alex Sturdivant and Aiden Noggle each put in a bucket.
The B team had a tougher day, falling 9-26 to the Tigers. Stats were not available for the B game.
The Vikes’ game scheduled for Glendo Monday evening was cancelled due to an incoming storm but it will still be a very full week for the little Vikes. They will host the Douglas junior high team Tuesday evening with games set for 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, they’ll travel to Lingle to take on the Doggers with games scheduled for 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. On Friday, the teams will head to Rock River where they will combine the A and B teams to square off against Hanna-Elk Mountain at 4 p.m. and Rock River at 5 p.m.
Guernsey’s B team came up short 9-26 against the Tigers.
