LINGLE – Friday GSHS Lady Vikings played the number three ranked team in 1A, the Doggers of Lingle. They fell short by a score of 58-12 but worked hard against one of the best teams in the state.
On Saturday the Vikings had to rise to the challenge and compete against the Miners. They were able to score more points, ending with 22 on the scoreboard yet shy of the victory.
“This weekend we have had two girls rise up to score points for the team. Dymond Dimas scored four against the Doggers and three against HEM, with 9 total rebounds and 5 total steals. Shalease Fross scored six against the Doggers and 12 against HEM. Because of Shalease's hard work, and dedication to bettering her shot, all of those points were from three-point shots. She had 4 rebounds and 1 steal,” Coach Daeh Kujak said.
Coach Kujak continued to discuss the Vikings’ improved play, “I was really proud of how the girls finished the second half against HEM. We were down 30 to 2 and came back to only allow 13 points the whole second half,eEnding up with a score of 43 to 22. Our major comeback came from a dedicated effort of the team, led by our solo senior playing in the game, Jordan Atwood, who had seven rebounds and five steals in the second half.”
