GSHS students place third in state at Pro Start competition

CHEYENNE – Karli Weinkoff and Jacelyn Schiele placed third in the state for their success at making from-scratch breads. They made Irish soda bread, sourdough bread, cheddar jalapeno bread, and focaccia bread. Jessica DeLaurentis helped Schiele decide on the types of breads and recipes.
The duo were two of several participants in the Pro Start Competition held in January during the Wyoming Governor’s Hospitality and Tourism Convention in Cheyenne .
Other students competing from Guernsey-Sunrise High School were Sam Baker wo baked and decorated a strawberry macha cake; Nathan Cisneros and Karli Weinkauf made pasta carbonara with bacon, caprese salad, and crepes in the culinary competition; Dymond Dimas and Alexis Atwood made New York strip steak with buttermilk mashed potatoes, spinach salad with mango and strawberries with blue cheese crumble and vinaigrette dressing, and a chocolate mousse dessert in the culinary competition. 
Jennifer Waring and Kathy Sierra were the Advisors for the teams.
