PLATTE COUNTY – This week, the Guernsey Gazette and Platte Co. Record-Times welcomed a new reporter to the editorial staff.

Marissa Murr will be helping cover news stories across Platte County, including the Guernsey and Hartville area.

“I am looking forward to working with Marissa to continue to improve community and general news coverage in all Platte County communities. I believe she brings a unique skill set that will be appreciated by our readers,” said lead Gazette reporter, Lisa Phelps.

In an introduction to the community, Murr wrote the following letter to our readers:

Hello Platte County, Wyoming,

My name is Marissa Murr, and I am a new reporter for the Platte County Record-Times and Guernsey Gazette. I moved to Wyoming in the fall of 2014 to attend the University of Wyoming. While attending school, I fell in love with rural Wyoming’s stunning landscapes. More than the landscapes, I enjoy being part of the community and the kind folk who inhabit the area.

As a climber and geologist, I revel in the endless rock features stretching from Cheyenne to the Bighorn Mountains. After exploring much of the western U.S. looking for rocks to climb, I have created a permanent home in southeast Wyoming.

I value the people and places here—the rugged terrain and the individuals who embody the Wyoming spirit. I have learned to embrace the harsh winters and wind—which, as we all know, keep the riffraff out. I look forward to meeting the citizens of Platte County and reporting on the local news. I want to tell the stories of the area—your stories.
