GLENDO – No fire department can go unfunded, and the generosity of the community helps keep the engines running and the firemen well-outfitted to safely and efficiently perform their duties in emergency responses. Plus, a good dinner, visiting with the greater Glendo community, safety demonstrations, a friendly competition and the chance to take home some uniquely amazing products in both live and silent auctions are all reasons to mark your calendar for the Glendo Volunteer Fire Department’s sixth annual chili cookoff on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The event will be at the Glendo Fire Station (203 S. Yellowstone Hwy) beginning at 6 p.m. There’s free admission, but it costs $10 per plate (kids under 5 eat free) to try some of the winning-est chili and cornbread around.

To compete, contact glendovfd@gmail.com – the sooner the better – and pay $15 to include a meal at the event. Entries are needed and accepted in multiple categories. Plus, an extra meal can be donated to a family member or friend. Categories include red or white chili, green chili, cornbread and dessert.

The Glendo Volunteer Fire department thanks you in advance for your presence, and your donations to a needed service in the local community.
