GUERNSEY—The community of Guernsey and surrounding area are always the biggest winners in a community raffle because they’re usually done by a group that raises the funds to help promote and provide events or assist residents.
That perfectly describes the latest fundraiser by The Friends of Guernsey Lodge who just completed a raffle and announced their list of winners on September 14th.
Approximately 40 people attended the actual drawing that was held at the VFW Hall in Guernsey. With food and drinks provided, anxious ticket holders waited to hear the winning names for three firearms, a firearm safe and 10 gift certificates from local businesses.

Sponsors of the event included Able Tactical, Banner Capital Bank, VFW Post 4471 and Hub City Motorcycle Club.
Winners of the firearms and safe were Jeff Herb, Della Gibbons, Dr. Sam Mark and C. J. McCabe.
Winners of the gift certificates were Bob Wiles, Jesse Kresting, Candy Winter, Charles Howshar, Jeff Vacuren, Christian Cooper, Vickie Lewis, Wayne Perkins, Aaron Jordan and Nick Paustian.
Even a local young man that served as the neutral party to draw the winning tickets made out well as he was presented a bicycle for his efforts.
The Friends of Guernsey Lodge are a group of dedicated volunteers who work throughout the year to raise funds that help provide many local events, celebrations and assistance to people in need. Their efforts, along with many similar groups, make our community the kind of place people want to live.
