GUERNSEY – The Platte Co. School District No. 2 school board, overseeing Guernsey-Sunrise schools, will be meeting on Oct. 8 to individually interview candidates in executive session. A final decision on the appointment and swearing-in of the candidate may be made after the executive session, or at the regular school board meeting on Oct. 13.
Former board member Kevin Gross, who was re-elected to the position in 2024, submitted his resignation on Aug. 30, citing professional commitments that prevented him from dedicating enough time to properly execute his duties as a school board trustee.
Candidates who submitted their names to be considered for the trustee position include: J.R. Swingholm, Robert Ibarra and Zane Walker.
The selected candidate will serve until the 2026 general election in November.
