YODER – The Lady Vikings who had not qualified for the regional tournament last year was back this year and had some tough competition on their agenda. The two teams that the girls faced were Kaycee and Arvada-Clearmont.
“Our season has ended with 2 losses at Regionals,” said head Viking volleyball coach Mindy Kelley. “Our first game was against a tough competitor, the Kaycee Buckaroos.”
The scores for each set were 25-11, 25-2 and 25-10.
“These scores do not reflect the hard work and effort the Lady Vikings displayed,” Kelley said.
Rylie Thompson and Kierstyn Collar led the team in kills with 2 each. Thompson also led the team in points with 4.
“Our next competitor was the Arvada-Clearmont Panthers and the Scores for these sets were 25-20, 25-19 and 25-16,” Kelley said.
Thompson led the team in kills with 5, followed closely by Collar with 4. Paige Andrews led the team in assists with 5. Liberty Whitebird had 4 assists. Collar led the team in points with 6.
“While we did not advance in the Regional tournament, this was an experience that most on our team had never experienced,” Kelley said. “These Lady Vikings will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future. I look forward to watching their continued growth.”
The Lady Vikings did not win a game in the 2021-22 season and they did not qualify for the regional tournament. This season the girls won four games and played in two regional tournament games.
