LARAMIE – The Wyoming Game and Fish Department invites the public to engage in community conversations about mule deer across the Laramie Region. These discussions offer a unique opportunity for the public to engage directly with Game and Fish, share insights and discuss the future of Wyoming’s mule deer management.
These informal meetings will be held at the following locations:
• Nov. 4, 6-8 p.m. Woods Landing (9 WY 10), Jelm
• Nov. 6, 5-7 p.m. Laramie County Shooting Complex (13802 Bullseye Blvd), Cheyenne
• Nov. 7, 5-7 p.m. Rendezvous Center, Goshen County Fairgrounds (7078 Fairgrounds Rd), Torrington
• Nov. 12, 5-7 p.m. Agriplex, Platte County Fairgrounds (59 Antelope Gap Rd), Wheatland
• Nov. 14, 6-8 p.m. Silver Saddle Room, Saratoga Resort (601 Pic Pike Rd), Saratoga
Wildlife biologists and game wardens will be available to listen to the perspectives of participants, answer questions and discuss the conservation and management of local mule deer herds.
“Mule deer are highly valued by hunters, wildlife enthusiasts and many other groups,” said Martin Hicks, Laramie Region Wildlife Management Coordinator. “We encourage the public to participate in these meetings and share their perspectives on mule deer in Wyoming.”
For decades throughout the west, mule deer populations have been in decline. Game and Fish is working to understand this dynamic and conserve mule deer in Wyoming. Based on the results of a 2023 hunter attitude survey, Wyoming hunters would like more of a voice in the future of this species’ management. These focused conversations are designed to connect the public with wildlife managers to facilitate discussion and provide space for diverse perspectives.
Mule Deer Community Conversations will be held in all regions this fall. To learn more about Wyoming’s mule deer and mule deer conversation events around the state, visit the Game and Fish mule deer webpage at https://wgfd.wyo.gov/wyoming-wildlife/mule-deer-wyoming or call 307-777-4600.
