GUERNSEY – The Lady Vikings came up against a tough challenge for their first game back after the Christmas break. The loss to Morrill, 54-6 dropped their record to 2-2 on the year.
“After the break, it was a bit tough to get back into the momentum,” head basketball coach Curtis Cook said. “There were things that I saw that the score didn’t indicate that showed me that the girls are learning and absorbing what they are learning. With each game I feel they are improving.”
Morrill came out like a bunch of hungry Lions and at the end of the first quarter, they had a 20-0 lead. By halftime, the Lady Vikings had finally scored, but the damage was done as Morrill lead 35-3.
The leading scorer for the Lady Vikings was Rylie Thompson with 3, next was Kierstyn Collar with 2 and Liberty Whitebird with 1.
Morrill is averaging close to 60 points per game, so the Lady Vikings, putting that in perspective can walk away knowing that they were not different from any of the other five teams that Morrill has defeated this year.
