WHEATLAND – The Platte County Historical Society will host a program titled “Myth or Truth” about the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum, located in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
The free program, presented by DAR museum docent Alice Perkins, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Platte County Public Library. Everyone is welcome.
Alice, a member of the DAR for many years, explained she has always had a fascination with history and upon discovering the museum has a docent outreach program, she decided that would be right up her alley.
As a correspondent docent, she is available to all organizations, clubs, groups and student classes, with at least a dozen different fascinating programs about the DAR.
“There are many stories about people and things that are told in museums and historic houses every day to entertain or explain, that either have little documentary basis or are outright fabrications,” Perkins said. “In this presentation, utilizing exhibits from the DAR Museum in Washington, D.C., Perkins will share favorite stories which are often heard in museums and various historic sites. The audience will examine the evidence and decide if it is ‘Myth or Truth!’”
