Aye, they're a windy bunch!

Posted: Sunday, Jul 28th, 2013

Shortly after performing in Guernsey’s July Fourth parade, the Southeast Wyoming Pipe and Drum Corps played a short concert in Gordon Davis Park and drew a large crowd who gathered close to hear some very different and special music.

CHEYENNE-For nearly nine years, a band of musicians that also happen to be good friends have gathered to play instruments that are as much about their country of origin as they are about the music extracted.

Arguably a windy bunch for the most part, four bagpipe enthusiasts and members of the Scottish Society of Southeastern Wyoming, Tim Carroll, Dana Anderson, Bob McLelland and Raymond Nelson took on the task of forming a bagpipe band in Cheyenne. Their first practice was held in the home of Tim Carroll and it could easily be said the rest is history.

Objectives of the band are to promote and encourage education in the culture and the advancement of piping, drumming and pipe band music; to create and maintain a bond of fellowship with all pipers and drummers and to maintain a pipe band of high caliber for performance throughout Southeast Wyoming.

For those who may be interested in booking the group, please contact Ray Nelson (307-634-5856) or e-mail pipeband@q.com for more information.
