Guard Camp feels effects of government shutdown

Posted: Thursday, Oct 10th, 2013

GUERNSEY-For the employees at Camp Guernsey, the government shut-down is not much different for them as anyone else across the country thats been directly or indirectly affected.

COL Rich Knowlton says its a day to day situation and Camp Guernsey will wait it all out just as everyone else must.

Its been kind of a confusing mess here, said Knowlton in a telephone interview Monday afternoon. We had some employees furloughed initially, then we got them back but lost others. Weve been here before, so it really isnt anything totally new-it just hasnt happened for a long time.

Although the staff shortage has made things more difficult to deal with, Knowlton is optimistic about the situation. Well just wait it out; its all we can really do.
