GUERNSEY-For the employees at Camp Guernsey, the government shut-down is not much different for them as anyone else across the country that’s been directly or indirectly affected.
COL Rich Knowlton says it’s a day to day situation and Camp Guernsey will wait it all out just as everyone else must.
“It’s been kind of a confusing mess here,” said Knowlton in a telephone interview Monday afternoon. “We had some employees furloughed initially, then we got them back but lost others. We’ve been here before, so it really isn’t anything totally new-it just hasn’t happened for a long time.”
Although the staff shortage has made things more difficult to deal with, Knowlton is optimistic about the situation. “We’ll just wait it out; it’s all we can really do.”
