GUERNSEY-With just a bit over a week to go, the light is still green for the legal discharge of fireworks in the city limits of Guernsey for the July 4th holiday.
But with dry, hot weather predicted for much of the next week, it’s still a day to day evaluation of the fire danger and whether or not that light stays green through the 4th.
At the Guernsey City Council meeting last Tuesday, the council set the dates and times for the sales and discharge of fireworks.
Fireworks may be sold from June 21 through July 4. They may be discharged on July 3-4 between 8 a.m. and midnight. Although there are no specific restrictions on where they may be discharged, parents are reminded that children should be supervised when using fireworks.
There will be a community fireworks display on July 4th at the Guernsey Airport at dusk.
Questions may be directed to City Hall at 836-2335.
