An easier trail to follow...

Posted: Saturday, Jun 22nd, 2013

GUERNSEY--The graveled temporary extension goes from the corner of Nebraska Avenue and Chugwater Street toward the river and connects on the South Guernsey Highway giving walkers a safer way to connect to the Lucinda Rollins Walking Trail. The extension keeps walkers off the highway for an additional three blocks. Walkers still have to cross the river on the bridge and need to be extra careful when doing so. The National Guard in cooperation with the Town of Guernsey placed the temporary trail in on their side of the property to allow for the safety of the walkers. The path was laid out by Town of Guernsey planner, Matt Allred with the help of the Guard and the town parks crew. The work was performed by the Guard to create a safer walking experience for the community. Working together, both groups have helped the community enjoy their walking on a safer route to the trail around the river.
