GUERNSEY--.Graveside services for Gladys Snyder, 92 will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Prairie Rest Cemetery with Reverend Ora Dailey officiating.
Gladys died February 20, 2013 at the Spring Winds Assisted Living Center in Laramie, Wyoming and cremation has taken place. Gladys was born July 5, 1920 in DeWitt, Arkansas the daughter of Charles and Florence (Ellenburg) Goolsby. She grew up and received her education in DeWitt graduating high school there. She married Frank Snyder in DeWitt on November 3, 1941. They moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where she worked in a defense plant while her husband was in the military.
They moved to Genesed, Kansas in 1949 and then to Guernsey, Wyoming in 1955. She worked at the school lunchroom for seven years. From 1961 to 1968 they lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming where she worked for Albertsonís Supermarket.Gladys liked to gamble, play bingo, go to the Guernsey Senior Center of lunch, and sew, having made many of her daughterís clothes. She was a member of the First Christian Church, a member of the Guardian Jobís Daughters Bethel for 34 years, and a Brownie leader in Kansas for many years.Gladys is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Thelen of Laramie, Wyoming, Patricia Snyder of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Brenda Robb of Denver, Colorado; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sisters Bertie Goolsby, Bernice Bitner, and Louise McCullum.
Memorials may be made to either the Guernsey Senior Center or the Guernsey Rescue Unit.
