4-month project begins at Guernsey Dam

MILLS, WY--The road crossing Guernsey Dam will be closed to the public at 5 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 18. Road closure signs and gates will be installed during the week of Jan. 14.

According to Wyoming Area Manager Coleman W. Smith, the purpose for the road closure is to accommodate modifications to Guernsey Dam.

“The modifications are in response to Reclamation’s safety of dams recommendations and will ensure structural integrity of Guernsey Dam should a large flood event occur,” Smith said.
