BNSF crews mark injury-free run

Posted: Thursday, Aug 4th, 2011

Employees earned the award but families got to join in on the enjoyment of the rewards at the BNSF injury-free picnic held last week in Guernsey for Train, Yard and Engine employees.

Calling it a "significant milestone, Jeff Stevens, BNSF Terminal Manager for Guernsey, praised the Train, Yard and Engine crews for their outstanding safety achievement during a family recognition picnic held at Gordon Davis Park last week.

Approximately 50 employees earned the recognition, having achieved seven years injury free on July 4. They've also remained human factor incident-free since February 17, 2011..

The group spent the better part of July 26 with family members and co-workers as they were treated to a catered barbeque lunch by Pit Crew BBQ of Wheatland. Some were lucky enough to win raffled prizes of BNSF memorabilia that included hats, bags, shirts and other smaller items.

The youngsters in the party enjoyed jumping in a large, inflated bounce castle set up for the day.

Speaking about the safety record, Stevens said they were "in uncharted waters" and that it "sets a standard and shows what can be accomplished when employees and management are aligned with a common goal."
