Obituary George Robert Larson November 3, 1930 -- July 20, 2010

George Robert Larson, 79, born in Tintah, Minnesota, on November 3, 1930, journeyed home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2010 while surrounded by family at the home of his daughter.

George will be dearly missed by his wife of 58 years, Estella (Tippy), children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and brother. He will also be truly missed by his true friend, Reuben Kroll of Proctor, and friends and neighbors of Guernsey, Wyoming.

George spent his life as a servant of God by living out his faith on a daily basis. George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was loyal, hard-working and generous.

George graduated from Proctor High School in 1948. He was a former Boy Scout leader and Esko Lions Club member.

He served in the United States Naval Reserve from 1948 to 1960. He retired after 30 years as a carman on the DM&IR Railroad.

He then relocated to Guernsey, Wyo., in 1980 where he became a foreman for the Burlington Northern Railroad and retired a second time in 1989.

He was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Guernsey where he served as a member of the Finance Committee. George was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and had been a board member for the Guernsey Credit Union. He was an avid gardener, competitive pinochle and cribbage player, and loved teaching his grandchildren the games.

George was preceded in death by his daughter Joan; son Dale; sisters, Helen, Olivia, Mary and Louise; and brothers, Victor and Clarence.

He is survived by his wife, Estella, (Tippy); sons Richard, Ole (Jackie) of Duluth, Tom (Deborah) of Montevideo, Minn., Denis (Patsy) of Castle Rock, Colo., and Paul (Kari) of Duluth, Minn.; daughters Carla Larson of Duluth and Deborah Colman of Benton, Ark.; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother David; sister in-law Martha (Clarence Larson); and cousins, Aunt Irene, and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held Friday, July 23 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Proctor.

Burial was at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Guernsey.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be gifted to the memorial fund established at St. Anthony Catholic Church, N. Kansas, Guernsey, WY 82214.
