Up against a 2-A, undefeated Southeast Cyclone team, the Vikings had a tough assignment over the last weekend.
And for the first half, the Vikes measured up to the task, down just 32-26.
But as Guernsey’s shooting percentage dropped off, especially in the final quarter, it seemed the Cyclones couldn’t miss.
A 21-9 run in the final eight minutes gave Southeast a substantial 73-50 win over the Vikings.
Troy Hunt had the hot hand for the Vikes as he racked up 21 points, including five three-pointers.
Kyler Copsey added 19, hitting three from behind the arc.
Additional stats were not available and there was no junior varsity game.
The junior varsity game at Douglas was scheduled due to a shortage of players for the Vikings.
Up next is a varsity-only contest tonight at home with Chugwater; tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, the Vikes will host Pine Bluffs.
The junior varsity games will begin at 4 p.m. and the boys’ varsity will play at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Guernsey will make the long road trip to face the Hulett Red Devils in Hulett.
Junior varsity games will begin at 1 p.m., and the boys’ varsity will play at 4 p.m.
