Modified: Wednesday, Jan 27th, 2010

Junior high Viking player Brady Esquibel gets another bucket against Chugwater in Saturday’s Viking Invitational Tourney.
Short on numbers, it’s been rough going for the junior high boys’ basketball team this season. At 0-6, the Vikes are still looking for that first win that will make the practice sessions a bit easier. Giving new meaning to the title of “The Brady Bunch”, Brady Esquibel has been the team’s leader, averaging 13.5 points per game through Saturday’s tournament in Guernsey.

Their first contest of the season was a 41-13 loss to Pine Bluffs. Brady Esquibel led Guernsey with 10 points. Jonah Girard added a bucket and Garrett Ayers hit a free-throw.

The Burns game was more of the same as the Vikes fell 54-13. Esquibel scored all of Guernsey’s points.

The Lusk Tigers took a 30-13 win over the Vikes in the third game of the season. Esquibel hit 11 and and Hunter Bye claimed the other basket.

Last Saturday, the Vikings played host to a six-team mini-tournament.

Guernsey opened Pool A play against the Burns Broncs, losing 27-16. Brady Esquibel finished with 10 points. Hunter Bye added four and Brandon Deuel hit a basket for the Vikes.

In their second-round game, the Vikes fell to Chugwater 39-30. Esquibel netted 22; Bye added four and Wes Sturdivant and Garrett Ayers each tossed in a bucket.

In their third game of the day, Glendo rolled over the Vikes 51-19. Esquibel finished with 15 points. Brandon Deuel had three points and Chris Olson hit a free-throw.
