Amanda Wilkes (44) goes in for a layup over Lingle-Fort Laramie’s Carolyn Hageman on Thursday. Wilkes had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the Vikes’ win.
Tia Orr gets two of her 18 points against the Doggers last Thursday. Orr also took down 12 rebounds as the Vikes won 61-39.
Last year, the Lingle-Fort Laramie Lady Doggers owned the court when they took on the Lady Vikings. Things have changed...a bunch.
Despite a first-quarter flurry by the Doggers, the Lady Vikings managed to outscore Lingle 20-2 and 15-4 in the middle quarters and claimed a 61-39 win Thursday at Guernsey.
The game opened at a fast pace and the Vikings found themselves in trouble early as one turnover after another gave the Doggers a 15-8 first-quarter lead. But the Vikings managed to compose themselves and turned things around quickly to build a 28-17 halftime lead.
It was more of the same in the third quarter and the Vikes began the final eight minutes protecting a 43-21 lead. It was even-up ball the remainder of the game as each team added 18 points and the Vikings got the impressive win.
Tia Orr and Amanda Wilkes both recorded double-doubles to lead the Vikings. Orr finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds; Wilkes canned 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Wilkes batted down six shots to help shut down the Doggers.
Brittany Palato was all over the court as she finished with four points, eight rebounds, eight assists and eight steals.
Jennifer Orr was also a presence as she scored four points and collected seven rebounds.
