GUERNSEY-It began as a simple idea-a golf tournament to honor the memory of Chet Frederick, who died in 1995, and his belief in the value of education. Over the past 18 summers, the tournament has grown steadily-now called the Frederick Memorial Golf Tournament, changed to also pay tribute to Chetís wife Harriet, and their son Rick.
Itís been a popular event since the beginning and was expanded to a two-day affair several years ago to accommodate more golfers.
This year, a team made up of current and former Guernsey residents took home the top prize money in the tourney.
Derek Farmer, Johnny Otero and Oatsie Otero shot 13 under par to win Flight A and the overall top score.
