Vikes move to 11-2 with wins over Lingle, Kaycee

Posted: Wednesday, Jan 23rd, 2013

Keep away... Sophomore Hunter Bye (14) takes the ball out of reach from Midwest’s Kiya Guseman (11). Bye is one of several younger players who have stepped up this year as one of the Vikings’ strong bench support players, a key to this year’s success thus far.

GUERNSEY--It has been said that a team with a star player is a good team, but a team without one is a great team. The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings certainly bear that out this season. Consistently putting at least two and usually more players scoring in double digits, the Vikes have pushed their overall record to 11-2 with wins over Lingle-Fort Laramie and Kaycee this past week.

This week, the Vikes added a Tuesday game to the schedule with Sioux County from Harrison, NE. Junior varsity games begin at 4 p.m. The varsity boys will tip off at 7 p.m.

They’ll also head to Moorcroft on Friday to take on the 2-A Wolves. This will be a big test for the Vikes as the Wolves hold a 14-4 overall record. Games begin at 4 p.m. for junior varsity. The varsity boys will play at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Vikes host the Southeast Cyclones, another 2-A team. The Cyclones are struggling this year, winless in 15 games to date. Junior varsity games are set for 1 p.m. and the varsity boys will play at 4 p.m.
