Hartville volunteers intent on Boot Hill Days revival
Posted: Tuesday, Jul 27th, 2010

Labor Day Weekend in Hartville will have a hint of the old days as members of the Boot Hill Days Revival Committee are planning a variety of special events for Saturday, September 4th.

One of the big draws looks to be the first annual Hartville Bed Race, reminiscent of those held many years ago as part of the original celebration.

This year, organizers are seeking teams of two men and one woman to compete for cash prizes to those posting the top three times for the course. There will also be a cash prize for the best team costumes.

Businesses are encouraged to sponsor a team and use the race as a way to promote their business.

In addition to the bed races, organizers will be looking for those dressed especially for the occasion. Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed Shady Lady, Dapper Dan and an all-around, unique Town Character.

Sunday will also be a busy day as the Hartville Volunteer Fire Department holds their annual fundraiser auction on Main Street. This has become a popular auction over the years and always provides some kind of entertainment. Winners will be drawn at the end of the auction for the department’s annual raffle-this year’s top prize is a beautifully refurbished golf cart. Tickets are currently available from any department member.
