For the Gazette
The GS Elementary students will be collecting pennies for their RIF theme of “Pennies for Peace”. They will collect during the week of January 24-29 and through February. Students will have collection jars in their classroom as well as other locations in the school and in the community.
“Pennies for Peace” is a service-learning program designed to broaden our students’ cultural horizons while teaching them about their capacities as philanthropists - one penny at a time. It was founded by Greg Mortenson, author of the book Three Cups of Tea. The money will go to help education and literacy in Central Asia. More information is available at the collection sites as well as online: http://www.pearsonfoundation.org/penniesforpeacetoolkit
