FORT LARAMIE--For thousands of kids across America, summer means more than just sleeping in and staying up late, hanging out with friends at the mall or laying out in the sun at the public pool or the beach. Every summer, nearly 12,000 overnight and day camps open their gates to kids and adults looking for the chance to experience life in a different setting--an adventure that offers activities and situations much different from day to day life. There are plenty to choose from with variations in themes as numbered as your imagination--you can specialize in just about anything. Sports camps, 4-H camps, Boy and Girl Scout camps--even camps for education, weight loss and health issues--there seems to be something for everyone. But one of the oldest, biggest and most popular categories includes church camps--and there are plenty to choose from.
In southeast Wyoming, there is one such special place, aptly named “Haven on the Rock” and once there, it’s not hard to see why that was chosen. It is perhaps, a little heaven on earth.
School is back in session and summer vacation now seems a long way down the calendar. But time has a way of slipping by, days, months and years. Summer camp can be a great place to make some memories, new friends and perhaps even change your life.
Haven on the Rock might be just the place to do that.
